أيّ شيء يا سيدي يبلغ النا

س ويصطادهم بكلّ مكان

What is it, my lord, that reaches far,

And hunts them down wherever they are,

وهو ذو حافرٍ يسير ويسري

كلّ وقت وليس كالحيوان

With hooves that trot and gallop free,

At any time, yet no beast is he,

ملحد لا يزال في شرعة الدِّي

ن وإن كانَ ليس بالإنسان

An atheist still held by creed,

Though not quite human, it is decreed.
