1. أيا واحداً بالمنِّ منه وبالثنا

    تحلَّت رقاب للورى وشفاه

    Whether with favours or with praise thou art arrayed,

    The necks for thy bright sword their tribute have paid;

  2. تهنَّ بشهرٍ واضح الفضل مشرقٍ

    تناسب فيما تشتهي طرفاه

    A month whose radiance clearer than the dawn's doth rise,

    Harmony crowns according to thy wish and will;

  3. فإما أخو كيد تفطَّر قلبه

    وإما أخو قلبٍ تفطَّر فاه

    A brother smitten with despair thou dost assail,

    Or brother, from whose mouth the wail bursts loud and shrill.
