شكراً لها نعمى يدٍ من سيِّدٍ

أغنى عن التطفيلِ والتشريخ

Thanks to her, bounty from a generous lord

That spared me begging and cadging

ولقد وَثقتُ بجودهِ متبصِّراً

من قبل شمّ روائحِ البطيخ

And I had already relied on his goodness, discerning

The scents of watermelon beforehand
