أشبعت أكباد أولادي وأعينهم

من الشوا ولقد كانوا ذوي قرم

I filled the hearts and eyes of my children

With longing, though they were already filled with yearning.

حتَّى لقد حسدوا جيران بابكمُ

وقيل بشراكُم يا جيرة العلم

So much so that our neighbors envied us

And it was said: Good tidings to you, O neighbors of knowledge.
