قلْ لمن بالغَ في الفخرِ بما

قد حواه من حطامٍ قد تيسَّر

Say to the one who boasts excessively of what

He has amassed of worthless rubble made easy,

أنت فخَّارٌ بدنياكَ ولا

بدَّ للفخَّار من أن يتكسَّر

"You are a potter and your world is your clay,

And pots must shatter, it's the potter's way."
