وذي عذلٍ لمَّا رآنيَ عاشقاً

كواعبَ غزلانٍ تدلّ وتطرِب

When the one I desire saw me a lover,

Like the gazelles playing and frolicking,

لحاني فأجرَيت المدامعَ أنهراً

فقلتُ له دعهم يخوضوا ويلعبوا

He teased me and I let my tears flow like rivers,

So I said to him, “Let them play and have fun.”
