O you who blame me, enough!
How often you stir the inclinations of my weary heart!
This beloved, my thoughts, my patience -
Tell me, how can I forget his comfort?
I know that reason says
I should leave him, though my soul desires him.
My glances intoxicated with wine, my beloved greeting me,
My cheek shining like the full moon beaming at me.
If love has a being, it is my innermost heart;
If beauty has an expression, it is his meaning.
I ransom him with my heart in the attack of love,
And in the sky, despite my sobbing, I meet him.
If it were not for his saliva being wine, and his mouthwater honey,
His eyes would not flutter, and his limbs not stir.
