1. للّهِ قومٌ بأكنافِ الحِمى نزَلوا

    همُ الأحبّةُ إن صدّوا وإن وصَلوا

    They have a people for Allah dwelling at the side of the sanctuary

    They are the beloved whether they reconcile or become estranged

  2. ودَرَّ درُّهُمُ من جيرةٍ معهم

    لم يبرحِ القلبُ إن ساروا وإنْ نزَلوا

    The perfume of their neighborhood comes from a neighboring tribe with them

    My heart has not moved away whether they traveled or settled

  3. جعلْتُهُم لي وُلاةً واِرتَضَيْتُ بما

    يقضون في الحُبِّ إن جاروا وإن عدَلوا

    I made them for me ministers and I was content with

    However they judge in love whether they do justice or are unjust

  4. همُ همُ سادتي رقّوا قسَوا عطَفوا

    جفَوْا وفَوْا خلّفوني أنجَزوا مطَلوا

    They are, they are my masters whether they were gentle or harsh, merciful or aloof

    They estranged, they reconciled, they left me, they fulfilled, they delayed

  5. ودّوا فلو هجَروا زاروا صفَوْا كدَروا

    قد حسّنَ الحُبُّ عندي كلّما فعَلوا

    They loved so if they abandoned, they visited, they reconciled, they troubled

    Love has seemed good to me however they acted

  6. رَعْياً لماضي زَمانٍ فُزْتُ فيه بهم

    وحبّذا بالحِمى أيّامُنا الأُوَلُ

    Herding the past days in which I prided myself on them

    And good were the days at the sanctuary our first ones

  7. عصْرٌ كأنّ الليالي فيهِ بيضُ دُمىً

    لُعْسُ الشِّفاهِ وأوقاتَ اللّقا قُبَلُ

    An era as if its nights were white ostriches

    The drinking of lips and the times of meeting kisses

  8. إذا الرّواةُ روَوْا عنهُ لنا خبَراً

    كأنّهم نقلونا بالّذي نقَلوا

    When the narrators narrated any news about it to us

    As if they transported us to what they transported

  9. كم في القِبابِ لديهم من محجّبةً

    في الحُسنِ والعزِّ منها يُضرَبُ المثَلُ

    How many secluded ones in their domes

    Whose beauty and honor proverbs were derived from?

  10. بِكرٌ هي الشّمسُ في إشراقِ بهجَتِها

    لو لم يُجِنَّ سَناها فرعُها الجَثِلُ

    A virgin who was the sun in the splendor of her smile

    If the branches of her youth were not withering

  11. ودُميةُ القصر لولا سِمْطُ منطقِها

    وظبيةُ القَفْرِ لولا الحَليُ والعطَلُ

    The puppet of the palace if not for the sound of her speech

    And the gazelle of the desert if not for her ornament and slackness

  12. سيّان بيضُ ثناياها إذا ضحِكَتْ

    ومَبسَمُ البرْقِ لولا النّظمُ والرّتَلُ

    Her laughing white cheeks when she smiled

    Were like the smirk of lightning if not for its prose and chanting

  13. يبدو الصّباحُ فيَستَحيي إذا سفرَتْ

    عنِ المُحيّا فيعلو وجهَهُ الخَجَلُ

    The dawn appears and becomes shy when her veil Slips from her cheek so it rises high and its shyness intensifies

    She struts tipsily during her endeavor while she is sober

  14. تختالُ في السّعي سُكراً وهْيَ صاحيةٌ

    فتنقُضُ الصّبرَ منها وهْيَ تنتَقِلُ

    So she breaks patience from her as she walks

    With her glances and lashes she invades hearts

  15. تغزو القلوبَ بلَحظَيْها ومُقلَتها

    لولا النُّعاسُ لقُلْنا جفنُها خلَلُ

    If not for drowsiness, we would have said her eyelids are defective

    I ransom them from horses in their stalls

  16. أفديهِم من سَراةٍ في جواشِنِهم

    وفي البراقعِ منهُم تلتَظي شُعَلُ

    And in litters from them flames kindle

    They are horsemen of spearing and striking but

  17. فُرسانُ طَعْنٍ وضرْبٍ غيرَ أنّهُمُ

    أمضى سِلاحِهم القاماتُ والمُقَلُ

    Their sharpest weapons are their height and eyeliner

    Archers upon archers they attacked with piercing white swords

  18. شُوسٌ على الشّوسِ بالبيضِ الرِّقاقِ سطَوا

    وبالجُفونِ على أهلِ الهَوى حمَلوا

    And with their eyelids they carried out raids on the people of passion

    In the sheath of each cleaver from their cleavers

  19. في غِمد كلِّ هزَبْرٍ من ضَراغِمهم

    وعَينِ كلِّ مَهاةٍ كامنٌ أجَلُ

    And the eye of each beauty a fate lies in ambush

    I did not know before encountering the blacks of their eyes That death was one of the names for kohl

  20. لم أدْرِ من قَبلِ ألقى سُودَ أعيُنِهم

    أنّ المنيّةَ من أسمائِها الكَحَلُ

    When I socialized were it not for the trinkets of their necklaces I would have thought dinars were what myrtle yields

    With white they crowned their moons and on

  21. كلّا ولا خِلْتُ لولا حَليُ خُرَّدِهم

    أنّ الدّنانيرَ ممّا يُثمِرُ الأسَلُ

    Their suns crowns of brocade were placed

    Their dawn from the white of faces cracking

  22. بالبيضِ قد كلّلوا أقمارَهُم وعلى

    شُموسِهم بالدّياجي تُضرَبُ الكُلَلُ

    And their night from the horns of the eyes descending

    They protected from pearls what their smiles gained

  23. صباحُهُم من وُجوهِ البيضِ منفَلِقٌ

    ولَيلُهُم من قُرونِ العِينِ مُنسدِلُ

    And whatever they contained in their palms they spent

    The blacks of the plaits and the brows you reckon them

  24. صانوا من الدُّرِّ ما حازَتْ مباسِمُهُم

    وما حوَوا منه في راحاتِهم بذَلوا

    Wrapped in the black of night and lined with kohl

    Composing poems suits their lions and in

  25. سُودُ الذّوائِبِ والأحداقِ تحسَبُهم

    تعمّموا بسوادِ الليلِ واِكتَحَلوا

    Their gazelles adornment and amorous overtures look good

    The hearts overnight in their dwellings as guests

  26. يَروقُ في أُسْدِهم نَظمُ القَريضِ وفي

    غِزلانِهم يَحسُنُ التّشبيبُ والغزَلُ

    And they have no hospitality but their fires

    They are the generous but they are Arabs

  27. تُمْسي القُلوبُ ضُيوفاً في منازلِهم

    ولا لهُنّ سِوى نيْرانِهم نُزُلُ

    Stinginess in generosity suits them

    As for the waists bending in their belts

  28. همُ الأكارمُ إلّا أنّهم عرَبٌ

    عندَ الكرائمِ منهُم يحسُنُ البُخُلُ

    Under the iron and rods atop them saddlebags

    And white round pearls some of which they wore

  29. أمَا وَلُدْنٍ تثنّتْ في مناطقِهم

    تحت الحَديدِ وقُضْبٍ فوقَها حُلَلُ

    And some of which they made necklaces for the necks of girls

    Were it not for slaying eyes and frames we would not

  30. وبِيضِ حبّاتِ دُرٍّ بعضها لفَظوا

    وبعضهُنّ لأعناقِ الدُّمى جعَلوا

    Have feared the impact of their shooting and killing

    May God not shine a dawn in their absence

  31. لولا عُيونٌ وقاماتٌ بنا فتكَتْ

    لم نَخْشَ من وقْعِ ما سَلّوا وما قتَلوا

    Nor may its night unveil away from them and set

    Nor may their eyes sober from the slumber of languor

  32. لا أطْلَعَ اللَّهُ فجراً في مَفارقِهم

    ولا اِنجَلى ليلُها عنهُم ولا أفَلوا

    Nor fatigue in anything but them disperse

    Were it not for their love sadness would not have worn out my body

  33. ولا صحَتْ من سُلافِ الدَّلِّ أعيُنُهم

    ولا سَرى في سِواها منهُمُ الكَسَلُ

    Nor would the sight of homes and ruins hurt me

    Nor would my heart separate with the ruins as

  34. لولا هَواهُم لما أبلى الضّنى جسَدي

    ولا شجَتْني رُسومُ الدّارِ والطّلَلُ

    The abandoned places from Ali dispersed in the land

    Al-Mousawi whose lineage’s lantern

  35. ولا تفرّقَ قلبي بالرّسومِ كما

    تفرّقتْ من عَليٍّ في الوَرى الخَوَلُ

    Its wombs linked to the illumination of Mount Sinai

    A noble soul the generous deeds measured by him

  36. المُوسَويُّ الّذي مِشكاةُ نِسبتِه

    أرحامُها بشِهابِ الطّورِ تتّصِلُ

    And through him civilizations in the world originated and transmitted

    A towering mountain if Sa’d Abi Waqqas were to replace him

  37. كريمُ نَفْسٍ تُزانُ المَكرُماتُ به

    ومنهُ تنشأُ بالدُّنيا وتنتقِلُ

    The inhabitants of settlement with Al-Rahoun would not accept him

    And if the crescent were to fall as night upon his land

  38. طَوْدٌ لوَ اِنّ سَرَنْدِيباً تبدّلُه

    لساكِني الحَوْزِ بالرّاهونِ ما قَبِلوا

    It would not satisfy it that it changed its slipper

    A battlement that leans affectionately towards gazelles

  39. ولو إلى أرضه يهوي الهِلالُ دُجىً

    لم ترضَهُ أنّه من نَعلِها بدَلُ

    As if they had doe eyes looking at him

    It covers the plateau like his past and his term

  40. قِرنٌ يَميلُ إلى نَحوِ الظُّبا شغَفاً

    كأنّهُنّ لديهِ أعيُنٌ نُجُلُ

    Shakes good tidings and its side slopes

    In an eye of its Hindiya from his blow cataracts

  41. يغشى العِدا مثلَ ماضيهِ وعاملُه

    يهتزُّ بِشراً ويَثني عِطفَهُ الجذَلُ

    And in its slopes from the wine of hills, cheeks

    It has swords if victory makes them laugh

  42. في طرْفِ هِنديّه من ضَربه رَمَدٌ

    وفي عَواليهِ من خَمْرِ الطُّلا ثمَلُ

    Necks cry and souls bemoan themselves shadows

    Its wounds and pupils of morning are one

  43. له سُيوفٌ إذا ما النّصرُ أضحكَها

    تَبكي الرِّقابُ وتَنعى نفسَها الظُّلَلُ

    Neither those bleed nor these run with tears

    The whites of its flanks like rivers of milk

  44. جِراحُها وعُيونُ الصّبِّ واحدةٌ

    لا تِلْكَ تَرْقا ولا هاتِيكَ تَندَمِلُ

    You think with loyalty honey flows through them

    When its zeal intensifies an ally of might

  45. بيضُ الجوانبِ كالأنهارِ من لبَنٍ

    تظنّها بالوَفا يَجري بها العسَلُ

    If not for the dew of its wind, it would nearly ignite

    It attacks the enemy from afar so it reaches him

  46. حَليفُ بأسٍ إذا اِشتدّتْ حميّتُه

    لولا نَدى راحتَيْهِ كادَ يشتعِلُ

    Like a star that moves to him while the darkness wraps

    Nearly every place it descended its field

  47. يغزو العدوَّ على بُعْدٍ فيُدرِكُه

    كالنّجمِ يَسري إليه والدُّجى جمَلُ

    Follows it eager towards it when it departs

    It meets the beds of light in its haunts

  48. يكادُ كلُّ مكانٍ حلَّ ساحتَهُ

    يَقفوهُ شَوقاً إليهِ حينَ يرتَحِلُ

    As if it wraps itself in the leather of the sun

    The opponent does not aspire in it the softness of its side

  49. تَلقى مراقِدَ نُورٍ في مَواطِئِه

    كأنّه بأديمِ الشّمسِ مُنتَعِلُ

    For snakes and canes may soften when old

    And its generosity does not tempt the enemy

  50. لا يُطْمعُ الخصمَ فيه لِينُ جانبِه

    فقد تَلينُ الأفاعي والقَنا الذُّبُلُ

    So its sender of thunder, its showering clouds

    It extends a hand to the heights and generous deeds

  51. ولا يغُرُّ العِدا ما فيهِ من كرَمٍ

    فمُحْدِثُ الصّاعِقاتِ العارضُ الهَطِلُ

    Its lines to deaths and wishes are paths

    A hand to every Egypt from its fingers

  52. يمدُّ نحو العُلا والمَكْرُماتِ يَداً

    خُطوطُها للمَنايا والمُنى سبُلُ

    Aspirations flow and hopes in them settle

    As if its ring on the day of bestowal in them

  53. يدٌ إلى كلِّ مِصْرٍ من أنامِلِها

    تَسري الأيادي وفيها ينزِلُ الأملُ

    Were the bow of the lowering cloud when laden

    It attained perfection as a child since its birth

  54. كأنّ خاتَمَهُ يومَ النّوالِ بها

    قوسُ السّحابِ الغَوادي حينَ ينهَمِلُ

    And carried out excellence as an infant before being weaned

    A soul from holiness in an absolute being

  55. حازَ الكَمالَ صبيّاً منذُ مولدِه

    وقام بالفَضْلِ طِفلاً قبلَ ينفصِلُ

    With chivalry it surpassed so a man would testify to it

    A moon has not emerged over a bed like it

  56. نفْسٌ من القُدْسِ في ذاتٍ مجرّدةٍ

    بالعُرْفِ جازَ عليها يصدُقُ الرّجُلُ

    Nor has a mountain been mounted before it

    Nor has a lion devoted itself to asceticism except it

  57. ما لاحَ فوقَ سريرٍ مثلَهُ قمرٌ

    ولا تمطّى جواداً قبلَهُ جَبَلُ

    Nor been religious in the religion of gazelles a hero

    Did a sword split the sun except its splitting blade?

  58. ولا تنسّكَ زُهْداً غيرَهُ أسَدٌ

    ولا تديّن في دينِ الظّبا بَطَلُ

    And engulf the sea except its coat of mail and armor?

    Its attributes the life below made dim by it indeed

  59. هل عانقَ الشّمسَ إلّا سيفَهُ فلَقٌ

    واِستغرَقَ البحرَ إلّا دِرعهُ وشَلُ

    A measure over all the days so they became lowly

    They portrayed it as a being but did not attain its qualities

  60. باهَتْ مناقبهُ الدُّنيا به فعَلا

    قدْراً على سائِر الأيّام واِستفَلوا

    And the people are towards it like beasts, among them the lions and foxes

    How does a pretentious person attempt in it an attribute?

  61. حكَوهُ خَلْقاً وما حازوا خلائِقَهُ

    والناسُ كالوحْشِ منها الليثُ والوَعلُ

    And does the onion obtain the scent of the narcissus?

    Not all honorable men their honors contain

  62. أنّى يحاوِلُ فيه مدّعٍ صفةً

    وهل يُحصِّلُ طِيبَ النّرجسِ البصلُ

    And there is not pearl in every sea bearing

    It has the dearest clothes of a man his roughest

  63. ما كلُّ ذي كرَمٍ تحوي مكارمُه

    والدّرُّ في كلِّ بحرٍ ليسَ يحتَمِلُ

    And the best fabrics and brocades ragged

    If with clothes without might someone arrogant

  64. لديه أغلى لِباسِ المرءِ أخشنُه

    وأحسَنُ الخزِّ والدّيباجِ مُبتذَلُ

    He would surpass the naked in good dress

    O son of the pitch black family when it carried in the horizon

  65. لو باللّباسِ بدونِ البأسِ مفتخَرٌ

    فاقَ البُزاةَ بحُسْنِ الملْبسِ الحَجَلُ

    Bulls and camels fear it

    Your children made the whole world unstable and in you even

  66. يا اِبْنَ الأُسودِ الألى يوماً إذا حملَتْ

    بالأفْقِ يُشفِقُ منها الثَّوْرُ والجمَلُ

    If they were not born the cycles would not have found a match

    You are suns whose morning light

  67. زانَتْ بأبنائِكَ الدُّنيا وفيكَ ولو

    لم يُولَدوا لم تَجِدْ كُفْؤاً لها الدّوَلُ

    At night and times are dawn and roots

    From you and because of you the narrators of glory took

  68. أنتم شُموسُ ضُحاها بل وأنجُمُها

    لَيلاً وأوقاتُها الأسْحارُ والأُصُلُ

    The knowledge of highs and were it not for you they would be ignorant about it

    They know you are truly their leaders

  69. عنكم ومنكم رُواةُ المجدِ قد أخذوا

    عِلمَ المَعالي ولولاكم به جهِلوا

    And they surely know you came before

    If meagerness dressed you the excess of its dress

  70. يدرونَ أنّكُم حقّاً أئِمّتُهُم

    ويعلَمون يَقيناً أنّكُم قُبُلُ

    Then what pride upon you does it not contain?

    Your medicine to the sick of glory a healing solution

  71. إذا العَياءُ كَساكُم فضْلَ ملْبَسِه

    فأيُّ فخرٍ عليكُم ليسَ يشتمِلُ

    But they to oceans of praise have chronic diseases

    As if your clay was mixed with clay

  72. أدواكُمُ لسَقيمِ المجدِ عافيةٌ

    لكنّهُنّ لأبحارِ الثّنا عِلَلُ

    So its plants are none but roses and basil

    My master whom fasting has an everlasting reward and passed away

  73. كأنّما خُلِطَتْ بالطّينِ طينَتُكُم

    فنَبْتُها ليس إلّا الوردُ والنّفَلُ

    With you the breakfast and inclination forthcoming

    And cheer with the return of a holiday in which returned to us

  74. مولايَ ذا الصّومُ أبقى أجرَهُ ومضى

    لديكَ والفِطْرُ والإقْبالُ مُقتَبَلُ

    In you joy and worry and anguish went away

    A feast honored O son of the two pure ones by you

  75. واِسعَد بعودةِ عيدٍ عاد فيه لَنا

    فيكَ السّرورُ وزال الهمّ والوجَلُ

    For that the nation of Islam celebrates

    You surpassed time as you surpassed kings so neither

  76. عيدٌ تشرّفَ يا اِبْنَ الطّاهرينَ بكُم

    لِذا به ملّةُ الإسلامِ تحتفِلُ

    Of them is the master among its people majestic

    And look at dawn breaking over its arrogance

  77. فاقَ الزّمانَ كما فُقْتَ الملوكَ فَما

    كِلاكُما سيّدٌ في قومِه جلَلُ

    A crescent of bliss its years derived from you

    An elder comes to you bent like a staff

  78. واِسْتَجْلِ طلعةَ فِطْرٍ فوقَ غُرّتِه

    هِلالُ سَعْدٍ سَناهُ منكَ مُنتَحِلُ

    While you are like an erect wet branch

    He saw you after vows by night so the lifespan of youth

  79. شيخاً تأتّاكَ كالعُرْجونِ مُنحنياً

    وأنت كالرّمحِ رَطْبُ العودِ مُعتدِلُ

    Equaled him while he put kohl on

    And you never stopped obeyed commander able

  80. رآكَ بعدَ النّوى ليلاً فعادلَهُ

    عُمرُ الشّبيبةِ غضّاً وهْوَ مُكتَحِلُ

    Judgment runs with what you rule and complies

  81. ولا برِحْتَ مُطاعَ الأمرِ مقتدِراً

    يجري القضاءُ بما تَقْضي ويمتثِلُ
