يا سيف عزم فلق هام العدا مضربك

لا يخلى اللَه من بين الصحب مضربك

O sword of resolute will that splits the neck of the foe,

May God never deprive the comrades of your mighty blows,

عذَّبتَ بالبين طرفاً ظالما قرَّبك

ويلاهُ ما أبعدك مني وما أقربك

You have tormented an unjust eye with separation, drawing you near,

Alas, how far you are from me, and yet how near!
