1. غَرَبَتْ منكمُ شُموسُ التّلاقي

    فبدتْ بعدَها نُجومُ المآقي

    The suns of our meeting have set,

    So the stars of sorrow appeared.

  2. جَنَّ لَيلُ النّوى عليَّ فأمْسَتْ

    في جُفوني مُنيرةَ الإشراقِ

    The night of yearning cast darkness upon me,

    So the dawn shines in my eyelids.

  3. أخبرَتْنا حَلاوةُ القُربِ منكمْ

    أنّ هذا البِعادَ مُرُّ المَذاقِ

    The sweetness of being close to you all

    Taught us that this distance is bitter in taste.

  4. دكَّ طورَ العَزاءِ نُورُ التجلّي

    منكُمُ للوَداعِ يومَ الفِراقِ

    Your light of manifestation collapsed the mountain of consolation

    On the day of farewell and separation.

  5. آنَسَتْ مُقلَتايَ نارَ التّنائي

    فاِصْطَلى القلْبُ جَذوةَ الإِشتياقِ

    My eyelids caught the fire of estrangement,

    So my heart became an ember of yearning.

  6. أيُّها المُفري القِفارَ بضَرْبٍ

    أحسَنَتْهُ صَوارمُ الأعناقِ

    O you who made the deserts flourish with one stroke,

    With swords that cut off necks.

  7. والمُحلّي قِراهُ في عَنبر اللّيْ

    لِ وبالزّعْفَرانِ مُحذي المَناقِ

    And you who adorned the villages with the fragrance of ambergris

    And saffron, wearing the most beautiful attire.

  8. إنْ أتَيْتَ العَقيقَ عمّرَكَ اللّ

    هُ ووُقّيتَ فِتنةَ الأحْداقِ

    If you come to Arafat, Allah will give you long life,

    And protect you from the temptation of gazes.

  9. وتَراءى لكَ الحِجازُ ولاحتْ

    بينَ حُمرِ القِبابِ شُهْبُ العِراقِ

    And you will see the Hijaz, and the meteors will shine

    Between the red domes with the horizons of Iraq.

  10. حيثُ تَلْقى مَرابِضَ العينِ تُبْنى

    بينَ سُمرِ القَنا وبيضٍ رِقاقِ

    Where you find beds for the eyes built

    Between the swarthy complexion and the thin stature.

  11. وبُحوراً حمَلْنَ غُدْرَ حَديدٍ

    وأُسوداً صَحِبْنَ رُبْدَ العِتاقِ

    With maidens who carried the betrayal of swords

    And young men who accompanied the firmness of resolve.

  12. فِتيةٌ لو تشاء بالبيضِ حالَتْ

    بينَ قَلبِ المَشوقِ والأشواقِ

    Young men, if you wish, halt

    Between the heart of the lover, and the most ardent longings.

  13. منزلٌ كلّما به سنحَ السِّرْ

    بُ تَذوبُ الأسودُ بالإشفاقِ

    A house, whenever the secret smiled in it

    The dark ones melt with compassion.

  14. ثغرُ حسنٍ حمَتْهُ سُمرُ قُدودٍ

    وظُبى أجفُنٍ ونَبْلُ حِداقِ

    A mouth of beauty protected by the reddish cheeks

    And the eyelashes of gazelles and the posture of eyebrows.

  15. وتجلّتْ لكَ الشُموسُ ظَلاماً

    حامِلاتِ النُجومِ فوقَ التّراقي

    The suns seemed like darkness to you

    Carrying the stars above the hills.

  16. ورأيتَ البُدورَ تشرقُ في الأر

    ضِ بهالاتِ عسجَدِ الأطواقِ

    And you saw the full moons shine on earth

    With halos below the train of planets.

  17. فتلطّفْ وحَيِّ عنّي خُدوراً

    هيَ حقّاً مَصارعُ العُشّاقِ

    So be kind and bring me, from my love

    The cheeks that are truly the death of lovers.

  18. وغُصوناً خُضرَ الملابِسِ سُودَ الش

    شعرِ حُمرَ الحُليّ والأوراقِ

    And green branches wearing black hair

    And red jewelry and papers.

  19. وَاِتّقِ الضّرْبَ من جُفونٍ مِراضٍ

    واِحذَرِ الطّعْنَ من قُدودٍ رِشاقِ

    And beware of hitting from sick eyelids

    And avoid stabbing from smooth necks.

  20. واِخْبِرِ الساكنينَ أنّي على ما

    علِموهُ لهمْ على العهدِ باقِ

    And inform those who live that I am still

    Loyal to the covenant I made with them.

  21. أجّجتْ نارَ زَفرتي الفُرقُ فيهمْ

    فنشا الدّجنُ من دُخانِ اِحتراقي

    The separation kindled the fire of my sighs

    So the smoke of burning arose.

  22. يا رَعى اللَّهُ ليلةً أَلبسَتْنا

    بعد فرطِ العِتابِ عِقدَ العِناقِ

    O Allah have mercy on a night when

    After intense reproach, we embraced.

  23. راقَ عتْبُ الحبيبِ فيها فرقّتْ

    مثلَ شَكوى المتيّمِ المُشتاقِ

    The beloved's rebuke on it caused separation

    Like the complaint of the insomniac lover.

  24. توّجَتْ هامةَ السُرورِ وحلّتْ

    خَصْرَ ماضي زَمانِنا بالنِّطاقِ

    It crowned the cloud of joy and adorned

    The waist of our past time with belt.

  25. فاقَتِ الدهرَ زينةً مثلَ ما قد

    فازَ قَدْرُ الوصيِّ بالآفاقِ

    So it surpassed time in beauty, like

    The destiny of the trustee surpassed the horizons.

  26. سيّدُ الأوصياءِ مَولى البَرايا

    عُروةُ الدين صفوةُ الخلّاقِ

    The master of trustees, guardian of the righteous

    The firm handhold of religion, elite of the Creators

  27. مَهبِطُ الوحي مَعدِنُ العِلمِ والإف

    ضالِ لا بَل مُقدّرُ الأرزاقِ

    The landing place of revelation, the source of knowledge and grace

    Rather, the predestinator of livelihoods.

  28. بدرُ أفْقِ الكَمال شمسُ المعالي

    غيثُ سحْبِ النّوالِ ليثُ التّلاقِ

    Full moon of the horizon of perfection, sun of glory

    Rain of the clouds of bounty, lion of meetings.

  29. ضارِبُ الشوسِ بالظُبى ضربَهُ البُخ

    لَ بماضي مكارمِ الأخلاقِ

    Hitting the horses with spear, his ethics hit

    The necks with the morals of the past.

  30. قلبُ أجرى الأُسودِ إذ يلتَقيه

    كوِشاحِ الخريدةِ المِقْلاقِ

    His rule is justice in judgments, but

    Tyrannical in the souls of the people of discord.

  31. حُكمُهُ العَدْلُ في القضايا ولكنْ

    جائرٌ في نُفوسِ أهلِ الشِقاقِ

    Knower of the unseen and the witnessed,

    Not distracted from Him is the account of creeping ants.

  32. عالمُ الغَيبِ والشهادةِ لا يَعْ

    زُبُ عنهُ حِسابُ ذرٍّ دِقاقِ

    Everything is present in His knowledge

    So the long eras are like glimpses.

  33. حاضرٌ عند علمهِ كلُّ شيءٍ

    فطِوالُ الدُهورِ مثلُ فَواقِ

    A king, whenever he climbs to glory

    The rivers are for him the lowest valleys.

  34. مَلِكٌ كلّما رَقي للمعالي

    فله النيّراتُ أدنى المَراقي

    May Allah plant pillars in its flourishing years

    That erase the darkness of the people of hypocrisy.

  35. سَلَّ للّهِ أنصُلاً في سَناها

    ماحِياتٍ ظَلامَ أهلِ النِفاقِ

    O those stars! For how many people did the full moon

    Gather its light with the eclipse of disappearance.

  36. يا لَها أنجُماً فكمْ بدرِ قومٍ

    كوّرَتْ نُورَه بكَسْفِ محاقِ

    If they appear fearful like the trenches

    Then for them are the bodies like the cliffs.

  37. إن تكن كالثُغورِ في الرَوعِ تبدو

    فلهنّ الجُسومُ كالأشْداقِ

    The group of polytheists did not appear

    Except they climbed the pulpits of the necks.

  38. ما تَراءَتْ جماعةُ الشِّركِ إلّا

    خطَبَتْ في مَنابرِ الأعناقِ

    Who watered the battle of Badr and Uhud

    And made the centuries taste the bitterness of defeat.

  39. مَنْ سَقى مرْحَبَ المَنونَ وعَمراً

    وأذاقَ القُرونَ طَعمَ الزُعاقِ

    Who permitted the forts after refusal

    And erased with the swords the delusions of the wrongdoers.

  40. منْ أباحَ الحُصونَ بعد اِمتناعٍ

    ومَحا بالحُسامِ زبرَ الغَساقِ

    Who forcibly brought al-Walid in terror

    After the glory of refusing to be shackled.

  41. من أتى بالوليدِ بالرّوعِ قَسْراً

    بعدَ عزِّ العُلا بذُلِّ الوَثاقِ

    Who climbed Mount Uhud and spent the night with him

    Standing with swords of seven layers.

  42. مَنْ رَقي غاربَ النّبيّ وأمسى

    معه قائماً بسَبعٍ طِباقِ

    Who in the dawn of drawing swords clarified a religion

    That had long been obscure and deep.

  43. مَن بِفجر النّصال أوضح ديناً

    طالَما كانَ قاتم الأعماقِ

    May Allah maintain a lance that was sharpened

    With a prayer like a dripping pore.

  44. واصلَ اللّهُ حُربةً أضمرَتْهُ

    بصَلاةٍ كقَطرَةِ المُهراقِ

    The inheritor of the sea and army, I reached

    The full moon as well as the sponsor of spending.

  45. وارِثُ البحرِ والهِزَبْرِ وصَلْتُ ال

    بَدرِ كلّاً وعارِضُ الإنفاقِ

    O Imam of guidance and who surpassed in merit

    And filled the two lofty horizons with conjunction.

  46. يا إمامَ الهُدى ومَنْ فاقَ فضلاً

    وملا الخافِقَيْنِ بالإيتِلاقِ

    I took the path toward you in passion

    And my wish, my riding animal and my companions.

  47. قد سلَكْتُ الطريقَ نحوكَ شَوقاً

    ورَجائي مَطيّتي ورِفاقي

    Sins have captured me, what capture!

    And mistakes, so free me from my shackles.

  48. أسرَتْني الذُنوبُ أيّةَ أسْرٍ

    والخطايا فمُنَّ في إطلاقي

    The beginning of my life was misguided

    My master, so correct the remaining years.

  49. أوّلُ العُمرِ بالضّلالِ تولّى

    سيّدي فاِصْلِح السنينَ البَواقي

    I am your slave, so employ me

    And protect me from the agony of resurrection.

  50. أنا رِقٌّ بك اِستَجرْتُ فكُنْ لي

    من أليمِ العَذابِ بالبعثِ واقِ

    My poem came to you with early poetry

    That appeared in the folds of paper.

  51. زفَّ فِكري إليكَ بِكرَ قَريضٍ

    برزَتْ في غَلائِلِ الأوراقِ

    Protect it from all except your glory, O meteor

    That illuminated with dawn.

  52. صانَها عن سِوى عُلاكَ شِهابٌ

    يا شِهاباً أضاءَ بالإشْراقِ

    So look at it with accepting eyes

    For it aspires for acceptance as the best dowry.

  53. فاِلتفِتْ نحوَها بعينِ قَبولٍ

    فلها بالقَبولِ أسنى صداقِ

    And peace be upon you as long as the branches swayed

    And the leaves of trees sang.

  54. وعليكَ السلامُ ما رقصَ الغُصْ

    نُ وغنّتْ سَواجعُ الأوراقِ
