What harm is it to one who wears a ring like this
if no wicks need be kindled when darkness comes?
Aglow—the ornament's wearer infected it with his radiance,
and so it rose in majesty and gained yet more beauty,
bearing a gem that delights, and a band—
the gem from an ember that blazed, the band from water that flowed—
in a palm fashioned as a heaven of generosity;
there the pair came together: a star and a crescent.
