The reveler awoke, a man refined,

And rose to doff his cloak, a thing sublime,

He passed the wine, though freely it had flowed

In youth's bright morn, and that sufficed for time.

Full many a night of love my heart has glowed,

Toying, awake, or slumbering past prime,

We will not strew our pearls before the swine

Until I've kissed his lips in raptured rhyme.

And many a bright-cheeked beauty have I eyed

At trysts which for the pine did pant and pine,

Seeming as if his glowing cheeks were dyed

By her, as black as jet his mole divine.
