أَذِنَ الغَمامُ بِديمَةٍ وَعُقارِ

فَاِمزُج لُجَيناً مِنهُما بِنُضارِ

The clouds intimated a gentle rain and aromatic plants,

So mix for me a potion made of them both.

وَاِربَع عَلى حُكمِ الرَبيعِ بِأَجرَعٍ

هَزِجَ النَدى مِن مُفصِحِ الأَطيارِ

And go out during the spring days that the showers rule,

The dew was stirred by the eloquent birds.

نَثَرَت بِحِجرِ الرَوضِ فيهِ يَدُ الصَبا

دُرَرَ النَدى وَدَراهِمَ الأَنوارِ

The morning breeze scattered in the garden pearls of dew

And shiny gold dinars.

وَهَفَت بِتَغريدٍ هُنالِكَ أَيكَةٌ

خَفّاقَةٌ بِمَهَبِّ ريحِ عَرارِ

And there warbled a bird, swooping down,

Aflutter in the blowing drafts.
