1. وَكَأسِ أُنسٍ قَد جَلَتها المُنى

    فَباتَتِ النَفسُ بِها مُعرِسَه

    And a cup of conviviality that wishes have fulfilled,

    So the soul has spent the night being its bride.

  2. طافَ بِها أَسوَدُ مُحدَودِبٌ

    يُطرِبُ مَن يَلهو بِهِ مَجلِسَه

    A tame black lion has circled it,

    Disturbing whoever toys with it in his sitting place.

  3. فَخِلتُهُ مِن سَبَجٍ رَبوَةً

    قَد أَنبَتَت مِن ذَهَبٍ نَرجِسَه

    So I left it because of a splendid magnificence,

    That has grown narcissus flowers from gold.
