وَعَشِيِّ أُنسٍ أَضجَعَتني نَشوَةٌ
فيهِ تُمَهِّدُ مَضجَعي وَتُدَمِّثُ
In the bliss of an evening I lay down to rest
As comfort cradles and soothes me to sleep
خَلَعَت عَلَيَّ بِهِ الأَراكَةُ ظِلَّها
وَالغُصنُ يُصغي وَالحَمامُ يُحَدِّثُ
The canopy above casts its shade o’er my bed
The branches whisper and doves softly cheep
وَالشَمسُ تَجنَحُ لِلغُروبِ مَريضَةً
وَالرَعدُ يَرقي وَالغَمامَةُ تَنفُثُ
The ailing sun drops its wings in the west
As thunder rumbles and clouds darkly seep
