The branches of the palm tree stir and sway
As the dawn shortens the train of darkness.
The ripe dates begin to fall and spill their juice
Like the drooling of a sleepy loved one.
This exquisite, sweet harvest has brought
A pleasurable scent to the garden's breath.
I deduced its ripeness from the whiteness of the spathes
And grew fond of its blackened dates.
