1. يا حَبَّذا وَالبَرقُ يَزحَفُ بُكرَةً

    جَيشاً رَحيقٍ دونَهُ وَحَريقِ

    O what a joy when the lightning creeps at dawn

    An army of perfume beneath it and a blaze

  2. حَتّى إِذا وَلّى وَأَسلَمَ عَنوَةً

    ماشِئتَ مِن سَهلٍ وَذُروَةِ نيقِ

    Until when it turns away and surrenders reluctantly

    You may take from a plain or a lofty peak

  3. أَخَذَ الرَبيعُ عَلَيهِ كُلَّ ثَنيَةٍ

    فَبِكُلِّ مَرقَبَةٍ لِواءُ شَقيقِ

    Spring has seized upon it every fold

    So from every outlook flies the red standard
