Invited to the Jews’ Sabbath, we could find
no dwelling of theirs where we might be warmly received and drawn near.
As though we were lost in Moses’ wilderness,
we head east at times, and at other times west.
What have I to do with Egypt? May no cloud ever water it!
They disbelieved there, yet we are the ones being punished.
