1. ظبيات الحمى تخيف الأسودا

    وجفون الدمى تصيد الصيدا

    The feverish gazelles frighten the lions,

    And the eyelids of the tearful hunt down the game.

  2. فهي المحييات قرباً ووصلاً

    والمميتات رحلةً وصدودا

    They are the life givers from nearby and afar,

    And the deadly ones whether settled or nomadic.

  3. يا بني عامرٍ الى الجفنات البي

    ض ردوا عنا الجفون السودا

    O sons of 'Aamir, return to us

    The dark eyelids that you have taken away.

  4. كم عدوٍ أوسعتموه طراداً

    ومحبٍ غادرتموه طريدا

    How many a foe have you let loose as prey,

    And how many a beloved have you left stranded?

  5. أسيوفاً سللتم أم لحظاً

    ورماحاً هززتم أم قدودا

    Were they swords you unsheathed

    Or but a glance and spears you brandished?

  6. صاح لا تبكين زرود فما أب

    عد بعد الفراق منك زرودا

    Cry no more, my companion, nothing remains

    After separation, nothing of my companion.

  7. فأرى طلك الدموع همولاً

    مثل تسآلك الطلول همودا

    I see your flowing tears violent

    Like your flowing tresses violent.

  8. أيعيد الهوى مناماً شرودا

    أم ترد النوى فؤاداً فقيدا

    Can love restore one wandering distraught

    Or can the intention return a heart so desolate?

  9. لم على ما جناه طرفك والقلب

    ولا تشتك الظباء الغيدا

    Do not complain of what your eyelashes and heart have done,

    Nor blame the timid gazelles.

  10. خف عنها الحي الشطون فحيت

    مثقلات العهاد تلك العهودا

    Life's ardour scared them, so they took

    The pact of fidelity - those binding pacts.

  11. فسقت جلقاً فأيام سطرى

    كل يومٍ عيدٌ علينا أعيدا

    The springs of betrayal have forged armour

    That was crumpled by the hands of youth.

  12. بلدٌ حسنه يفقه من

    كان بليداً حتى يفوق لبيدا

    Then the clouds cast their weapons so the days

    Turned white after having been black.

  13. كم كليل اللسان عاد وقد عا

    ين باب الحديد عضباً حديدا

    She knitted its pearls into necklaces for a family

    And she poured under them ample generosity.

  14. دبجتها كف الربيع كا

    ن شقت عليها مطارفاً وبرودا

    So the gentle breeze is amazed by it

    Scattering above the thickets those necklaces.

  15. البيض والحنايا فما

    تذكر يوماً بوارقاً ورعودا

    How many skies have brought out the stars' flowers

    Rising over the repentant with good fortune.

  16. أرسل القطر كالسهام

    وقد نشر من فوقها البروق بنودا

    Where the sun of the goblets travels with them

    A full moon having risen from the Turks generously.

  17. وصفاح الغدران سنت دروعاً

    جعدتها أيدي الصبا تجعيدا

    The green gardens display to the eyes

    Narcissus and roses from the meadows' cheeks.

  18. ثم ألقت سلاحها السحب فالأيام

    بيضٌ من بعد ما كن سودا

    It has beautified the vista and freshened the air

    When it rivaled the water and the earth smelled sweet.

  19. نظمت دوحها عقودا لآلٍ

    ودحت تحتهن دراً بديدا

    The stallion of ardour flowed like a stallion, and I said:

    "Increase O Yazid flowing youthfulness."

  20. فعليل النسيم عجباً بها ين

    ثر فوق النثير تلك العقودا

    Every tender branch from the waist is generous

    Under a meadow that casts sublime singing.

  21. كم سماءٍ قد اطلعت أنجم ال

    أزهار فيها على الندامى سعودا

    Among a pleaser, praiser, when the

    Tunes inspire or a melodious one creates melody.

  22. حيث شمس الأقداح يسعى بها

    بدر من الترك مبدياً و معيدا

    Its beauty cannot be attained even by the deer.

    It is excellent, outshining even the deer.

  23. واكف الرياض تجلو من ال

    نرجس والورد أعينا وخدودا

    None regard it as part of the eternal paradise

    Except that one cannot attain eternity in it.

  24. حسنت منظراً ورقت هواءً

    حين راقت ماء وطابت صعيدا

    You will not find anything like it described

    My religion is as unwavering as a pillar.

  25. ثور الوجد نهر ثورا وقلت

    في يزيد صبابةٌ أن يزيدا

    The one known for his reputation will not be found heedless

    And the brave warrior will not fear destruction.

  26. كل غصن لدن القوام مجودٍ

    تحت شادٍ يلقي الغناء مجيدا

    The splendor of his generosity rises and boils

    With his gifts always plentiful.

  27. بين صابٍ سابٍ إذا هزج ال

    ألحان أو ناشدٍ يجيد النشيدا

    Possessing gentleness he returns the youthful branch juvenile,

    And possessing might he makes the newborn gray.

  28. لا تقسه الغزال ونزل

    جيداً يفضح الغزال وجيدا

    He gifts the killers and swimmers

    The greetings and those who greet the firewood.

  29. ماعدها من جنة الخلد إلا

    أنها لا تنال فيها الخلودا

    Every breast pining after the Gracious without cease

    Or every potent one who destroys the contagious.

  30. لن تلاقي مثلاً لها وصفي

    الدين كالند لا يلاقي نديدا

    The provider prevents or grants

    His presence always benficial.

  31. صاحب الصيت لا يلاقي خمولاً

    وفتى البأس ليس يخشى خمودا

    For Abu al-Fath good tidings of victory

    And openings when troops and delegations come.

  32. بهج الجود فهو يعلي ويغلي

    بعطاياه قاصداً وقصيدا

    Unique, benevolent, possessing awe and fear

    A stock and countless assets.

  33. ذا سماحٍ يعيد غصن الصبا

    غضاً وبأسٍ يشيب المولودا

    He is busy receiving soldiers with resolve

    As hearts stand around him like soldiers.

  34. يهب القاضبات والسابحات

    القب قوداً والواخدات القودا

    He freely gave freely until he enriched the poor

    When he exalted the Exalted and gave life to one passed.

  35. كل نهدٍ يفلي الفلا طالبا

    جدواه أو جسرةٍ تبيد البيدا

    Ways and means that return to us

  36. المجير المجيز منعاً ومنحاً

    لا عدمنا منه المفيت المفيدا

    Hopes, wealth, enduring and reaping.

    Wealth perishes while hostility of enemies endures

  37. لأبو الفتح نصرٌ النصر

    والفتح إذا جاء ت الفيوج وفودا

    But it bestows glory that is eternal.

  38. واحدٌ واجدٌ لديه من الهي

    بة والخوف عدةً وعديدا

    He is like justice in swords - receive it

    Ready on the day of distress destroying.

  39. فهو غانٍ عن الجنود بجدٍ

    وقفت حوله القلوب جنودا

    He spread justice in the expanse so the earth

    Became a pillow he furnished preparing.

  40. جاد جود الحيا فأغنى فقيراً

    حين شاد العلى فأحيا فقيدا

    He brought fear to lead except for what he possesses

    The most generous of both worlds oft promising.

  41. سبلٌ واحدٌ يعيد بنا ال

    آمال والمال قائماً وحصيدا

    Of vast hearing who was not devoid of fortune

    And success, victory and support.

  42. تلف المال معقبٌ الأع

    داء لكن يعطي الثناء خلودا

    O pilgrim of battle towering and stern

    And life of the noble lofty in charity.

  43. فهو مثل العدل في الحسام تلقاه إما

    سل يوم الوغى مباداً مبيدا

    O sword wrathful in every ordeal

    Where the blades of swords relate gloom.

  44. بسط العدل في البسيطة فال

    أرض مهادٌ قد حاطه تمهيدا

    Support of the realm who was night

    That made the dawn in it pillars.

  45. بعث الخوف قائد إلا من فيها

    أكرم العالمين عوداً وعودا

    My support by which I repelled enemies

  46. ذو مساعٍ لم يعدم السعد

    والتوفيق فيها والنصر والتأييدا

    From my territory and fended off the envious.

    With his sword he brought out our glory

  47. يا حمام العادي إباءً وسطواً

    وحياة الجادي سماحاً وجودا

    In their hearts planting splendor.

    Do not say I was unique in becoming

  48. والحسام الغضوب في كل خطبٍ

    حيث تحكي بيض السيوف الغمودا

    Praised in my eulogy made splendid.

    Eulogy the nights will pass and expire

  49. وعماد الملك الذي كان ليلاً

    فأقام الصباح فيه عمودا

    But seizes survival and eternity.

    Like the delicate Indian scimitar

  50. وعتادي الذي به ادرأ الأعدا

    ء عن حوزتي وأردي الحسودا

    And the piercing battle sword acute.

    The lucid meanings are like water

  51. والذي سيب كفه أنبت الشن

    آن لي في قلوبهم والحقودا

    Whose nature splits open the solid.

    The conclusive arguments hand over

  52. لا تقل أنني تفردت أن أصبح

    ت في مدحي المجيد مجيدا

    To the keen arbitrator and Al-Walid.

  53. مدحٌ تذهب الليالي وتفنى

    وتحوز البقاء والتخليدا

    I wish the censure of those blaming you were stones or iron

    If they possessed any with them.

  54. كشباة الهندي سل رقيقاً

    وسنان الخطي هز سديدا

    You promised me nights that did not fulfil

    Promises while how many and which promises.

  55. كل شفافة المعاني هي الما

    ء طباعاً يصدع الجلمودا

    Prepare its war with your making peace

    Then make the most auspicious Eid for the desolate dweller.

  56. محكمات الأعجاز تسلم إعجا

    زا إلى العي مسلماً والوليدا

  57. ود حسادك الملومين لو كا

    نوا لديها حجارةً أو حديدا

  58. وعدتني بك الليالي فلم تو

    ف وعوداً وكم وفين وعودا

  59. فأعد حربها بصنعك سلماً

    ثمت اسلم اسنى البرية عيدا
