1. غيرُ سهلٍ فيكِ يا لمياءُ حزني

    بين سهلٍ من مغانيكِ وحزنِ

    You are not easy upon me, oh waters of sadness

    Between plains of your melodies and sadness

  2. كم بها من غصن بانٍ في نقا

    مثمرٍ في جنح ليلٍ شمسَ دجن

    How many a bending branch in softness

    Fruitful in the wings of a tamed night sun

  3. كلِّ ثاني السيف لحظاً وهوىً

    وشقيقِ الروح قدّاً وتثنّي

    Every second the sword flashes and yearns

    And the soul's twin firm and bending

  4. سافرٍ عن طلعة الشمس ضحىً

    ناظرٍ عن مقلة الظبي الأغنّ

    Traveling from the rising of the sun in the morning

    Looking away from the beautiful gazelle's eyelid

  5. ماس تيهاً وتغنّى طرباً

    فهو ورقاً هتفتْ من فوق غصن

    Roaming lost and singing passionately

    So it is a leaf that called from atop a branch

  6. يجتني اللحظُ المنى من خدّهِ

    وهو باللحظ على العشّاق يجني

    The moment picks the wishes from his cheek

    And with that glance reaps the lovers

  7. فإذا ما وابلُ جاد ثرىً

    فسقى ذاك الثرى وابلُ جفني

    So if the clouds rain soil

    Watering that soil and my eyelids' rain

  8. ومن العار ودمعي ديمةٌ

    إن أراني للحيا حاملَ من

    And from shame my tears are everlasting

    If it sees me carrying life’s disgrace

  9. كان ظنّي أنَّ صبري منجدٌ

    ثمَّ لما أنجدوا خيّب ظنّي

    My patience I thought was helpful

    But when they were not helpful, it disappointed my assumption

  10. فأقيموا وامنعوا وصلكمُ

    قد قنعنا من هواكم بالتمنّي

    So stay and forbid your connection

    We are content with your love through wishing

  11. وسألنا الطيفَ عن عطفكمُ

    فسلوهُ علّهُ يخبر عنّي

    And we asked the apparition about your kindness

    So ask it, perhaps it will tell about me

  12. يا بتي عذرةَ لا عذرَ لكم

    عن فؤادٍ رعتموه بعد أمن

    Oh my princess, no excuse for you

    About a heart you pastured after safety

  13. بجفونٍ كالمواضي أرهفت

    وقدودٍ مسنَ كالخطّي لدن

    With eyelids like prairies made sensitive

    And brows furrowed like engraved lines

  14. منعتْ منعكم مذ لقنتْ

    عنكمُ البرحين من ضربٍ وطعن

    Your prevention prevented since it dictated

    About you the censure of blame and stab

  15. فأٍطلقوا قلبيَ من أسر الهوى

    إنّما جاني الهوى عيني وأذني

    So release my heart from the shackles of love

    For only my eyes and ears betrayed me to love

  16. لكمُ رقُّ الهوى منهُ كما

    لعمادِ الدين رقُّ الشكر منّي

    For you the softness of love is like

    My gratitude is soft for Imady Al-Deen

  17. حلَّ في ربعيَ أهدابَ الحيا

    قبلَ أن ينحلَّ فيه خيطُ مزن

    It settled in my being before

    The thread of time settled in it

  18. لم أكنْ لولا نداء الجمُّ ذا

    ناظرٍ سامٍ وقلبٍ مطمئنّ

    I would not have been, had it not been for the call of the throng

    Looking sublime and a heart content

  19. ثاقبٌ في كلِّ فضلٍ زندهُ

    خاطرٌ خاطرهُ في كلِّ فنّ

    Penetrating in every merit, its principles apparent

    A perception, its perception in every art

  20. أشبهَ الشمسَ سناءً وسناً

    لا رمى الدهرُ معاليهِ بوهن

    Resembling the sun in brilliance and brilliance

    Time has not cast its heights with decay

  21. فلهُ باسقُ مجدٍ مبعدٍ

    ولهُ بشرٌ من العافين مدني

    So it has a lofty, extended glory

    And it has a human race, civilized and urban

  22. أتقي الخطبَ وأرديهِ به

    فهو سيفي حين يعرو ومجنّي

    I avoid and counter the calamities with it

    It is my sword when bare and whetted

  23. ماجدٌ ثابتُ جاشٍ ونهىً

    يقظٌ نافذُ آراءٍ وذهن

    Majid, steady, valiant and preventative

    Vigilant, discerning in views and mind

  24. فهو داني الفضل من محتاجهِ

    وبعيدُ العزم عن ضعفٍ وأفن

    So he is near in merit to the needy

    And far in resolve from weakness and death

  25. يا أبا حامد أعظمْ بالنّوى

    يا لها عن مثلكم صفقة غبن

    Oh Abu Hamid, magnify with good faith

    What a loss of a deal it is without your like

  26. قد سمحتم للمحبينَ بها

    وهي تجزي ذلك الجودَ بضنّ

    You have permitted lovers this

    And it compensates that generosity with hoarding

  27. كم سألنا الجمعَ لو تجدي إذنْ

    وعتبناها لو أنَّ العتب يغني

    How much we asked the group, if only your presence would help

    And we blamed it, though blaming does not avail

  28. غبتمُ عن جلّقٍ لا عدمتْ

    منكمُ بهجةَ إحسانٍ وحسن

    You were absent from an aggregation that did not lack

    The delight of your benevolence and beauty

  29. فهيَ في بعدكمُ نارُ لظى

    وهي في قربكمُ جنّةُ عدن

    It without you is a fire of affliction

    And it near you is the garden of Eden

  30. ما نواحيها فساحاً بعدكم

    لا ولا الطيرُ فصاحاً غيرَ لكن

    Its prairies have no expanse without you

    Nor do the birds crow except "but there is no might or power except with God"

  31. لم تبتْ مذ بنتمُ أغصانها

    راقصاتٍ والقماريُّ تغنّي

    It has not spent the night since you built its branches

    Dancing and the singer sings

  32. مرحباً بالملك النّاصر من

    مزنةٍ تسري إلى الحيّ المبنّ

    Welcome the victorious king

    From the Zanjah that comes to the good urban society

  33. باذلُ المجدين جاهاً وغنىً

    قاتلُ الإلفينِ من لؤمٍ وجبن

    The dispenser of the two glories, prestige and wealth

    Killer of the two enemies, villainy and cowardice

  34. فهو في السّلم وفي يوم الوغى

    بنداهُ والسُّطا يقني ويفني

    He is in peace and in the day of strife

    His spear pierces and destroys

  35. من إذا أوجسَ خوفاً مالهُ

    من نداه لم يعوذه بخزن

    When anyone feels fear

    His spear does not seek refuge in weakness

  36. وإذا حبّرتُ فيهِ مدحةً

    قالتِ الرّيح أو البرقُ ألكني

    And when I hold your praise in my ink well

    The wind or lightning says to me, “Enough”

  37. تشهدُ الأعداءُ بالسبقِ لهُ

    فهيَ تثنى عن مساعيهِ وتثني

    The enemies testify to his precedence

    Though they deny his deeds and twist

  38. لم تزل في كلِّ حالٍ كفّهُ

    تهدمُ المالَ وللأعداءِ تبني

    His palm has not ceased in any state

    To destroy wealth and build for the enemies

  39. لجأتْ دولتهُ منك إلى

    ظلِّ مجدٍ طالَ ركناً كلَّ ركن

    Your state sought refuge in you

    In the shade of extended glory that empowered every pillar

  40. شهرتْ علياكَ حتى أنّها

    غنيتْ عن هوَ في الخلق وأعني

    It raised you high until it became

    Independent of anyone in humanity but you

  41. وتطوّلتَ إلى أن زدتَ عن

    قولِ من يرغبُ في الغاية زدني

    And you reached until you exceeded

    The statement of one who desires the ultimate, "Give me more"

  42. لكَ عندي مننٌ واضحةٌ

    في جلابيبٍ من الأيام دكن

    For me you have obvious favors

    In robes of days, dark

  43. كم نفتْ عن كلّ قلبٍ لوعةً

    خامرتهُ وقذىً عن كلِّ جفن

    How much has it removed distress

    That troubled it, and filth from every eyelid

  44. فابقَ لي ما ناحَ في أيكيّةٍ

    صادحٌ حنَّ إلى إلفٍ ووكن

    So remain for me what moaned in sorrow

    A complainer, yearning for friendship and intimacy
