لندى يديك ويمن رأيك

نكص الأماجدُ من ورايك

With your hand and your right opinion,

Glories have retreated behind you.

أمطرتني سحب الندى

مع بعد أرضي من سمائك

You rained me with the clouds of dew,

Along with the distance of my land from your skies.

حمدي أياءك حمدُ مفت

قرِ المغيب إلى أيايك

My praise of your signs is praise that reveals

The setting of the sun to your days.

ما في حضورك نعمةٌ

لم تأتِ منك سوى لقايك

There is no blessing in your presence

That has come from you other than your meeting.

أنا كاذبٌ أن كان يو

جد قطّ أصدقُ من رجايك

I am a liar if there is ever

More truthful than my hope in you.

أمسيتَ نجمَ الدين حيث

النجم يقصرُ عن علايك

You have become the star of religion where

The stars fall short of your ascension.

أين الرواسي من حباك

أو السَّواري من حبايك

Where are the foundations compared to your love

Or the bracelets compared to your affection?

بهر المدائح جودُ عشركَ

لي وأعجز فضلُ آيك

The generosity of your company stunned praise

And your overflowing favors left me in awe.

أنا حرّ صفحك غير أنَّ الش

كر مني في سبايك

I am free by your forgiveness, however gratitude

From me is in your captivity.

لله أنت إذا تلبَّست

العجاجة بالملايك

By God, when you are clothed

In brilliant garments with the angels,

وهوت نجومُ المشرفية فـ

ـي البروج من الترايك

And the stars of the honored fall

Into the mansions from your crown,

فكأنما يومَ الكريهةِ غيـ

ـر شاكِ وهو شايك

It is as if the day of al-Karīhah is only

Doubtful while it entertains you.

بمثقبات من يراعكَ

أو دروعٍ من سخايك

With openings from your sight

Or shields from your generosity.

ومضائك المشهور لا

خلت الممالك من مضايك

Your renowned flashes have not

Left the kingdoms without your flashes.

غدر الزمان بنا وفاءَ

لما تعلَّم من وفايك

Time betrayed our loyalty

When it learned loyalty from you.

وأرى الصَّبا جاءت مبشّرةَ

بنشرٍ منك صايك

And I see the morning came giving good news

Of your fragrance being scattered.

حسنَ الضُّحى فكانَ

وجه الجوّ يجلى في صفايك

The beauty of the dawn, so the

Face of the atmosphere glows in your serenity.

ولقد سكرتُ بما شكرتَ

فما يدارُ سوى ثنايك

And I was intoxicated with what I thanked,

So nothing turns except your sides.

يا هاتف الأغصان إيهٍ

في صباحك أو مسايك

O caller of the branches, say:

In your morning or evening.

ما كان أسرعني ببرّك

لو قدرتُ على جزايك

Nothing hurried me with your righteousness

If I could fulfill repaying you.

فأنا الفقير إلى غناهُ

والمشوق إلى غنايك

So I am poor unto your riches

And longing unto your melodies.

وهناك يا قلبي السقيم

فقد وجدت دواء دايك

And there, O my sick heart,

I have found the cure of your medicine.

لم تشكُ من ألم النوى

حتى ظفرت بذي شفايك

You did not complain of the pain of passion

Until you won the one with your healing.

يا دارَ ندوته وما

أدنى نداهُ من ندايك

O abode of his visit, and how slight

Is his approach compared to your approach?

لفرعتِ عالية الجزيرة

فهي تجلى في بنايك

Noble, lofty island branch,

It manifests in your building.

ما إن وجدت أصحَّ في

سحرٍ وأسقم من هوايك

I have not found more truthful in

Sorcery, nor sicker than my love for you.

صدأ الظّلال خلاف بيض الـ

ـهند يصقلُ سيف مايك

The rust on the shadows unlike the whites of India

That polishes the sword of your clouds.

ويضيء وجهُ العيش حين

يلوح أبلجَ في إضايك

And the face of life shines when

Your brilliant full moons appear.

وإذا تمرُّ به الصَّبا

فانظر سماء في حبايك

And if the morning breeze passes by it

Look to the sky in your affection.

أسدى الغمامُ خيوطهُ

وتخذتَ من آذار حايك

The clouds laid down their threads

And you took the rains of March as your defender.

فجلا ثراك الغفلَ في

حللِ تدلُّ على ثرايك

So your forgotten nobility shone in

Garments that hint at your nobility.

بي غلّة للبعدِ والعدواء

تروى من روايك

The harvest of distance and enmity is in me

Quenched by your narrations.

تحيى تباريح الأسى منَّـ

ـا وتفنى في فنايك

The sorrows of grief are enlivened by you

And perish in your annihilation.

لله يوم الجمع فيك

وما أحبّرُ من هنايك

By God, the day we gather in you

And how excellent is your conclusion!

فاصفح عن الحسَّاد فالـ

ـمعتادُ صفحك عن ألايك

So forgive the envious, as forgiveness

Is your custom beyond their harm.

عنفت لياليهم بهم فشـ

ـكا عبيدك من إمايك

Their nights have been violent with them, so your servants

Have complained of your pain.

ولقد غنيت وكيف لا

يغنى مليٌّ من ولايك

And you have certainly enriched me, so how can

One under your authority not be enriched?

ولئن سألتُ فلستُ أسأل

ما بقيت سوى بقايك

And if I asked, I do not ask save

What remains for me except your remainder.
