Like a chained gazelle, adorned by her owner’s generosity.

I have not seen a sword more effective than the curve of its bay,

Gleaming against its sheath with the rust of shade.

When it is unsheathed - no, when it flows forth -

From the parched earth, it brings drink to the palms of places.

At dawn, the rays of light burnish its blades,

Leaving no doubt that water and fire are in its steel.

Nothing compares to the bends of its branches, as if they are

The profiles of a beloved inclining with charm.

The dew composes a charm for it, praising the night,

And dawn scatters its admiration over it, pearls of dew.
