خير مَا مقْدمٍ أفاضَ النَوالا
وأجدَّ السرورَ حالاً فحالا
The best of what pours forth abundance
And brings increasing joy hour by hour
حلَّ في مربعٍ خصيبٍ ولاقى
زَمَناً نازعَ البدورَ الجمالا
It settled in a fertile square and found
A time that rivaled perfect moons in beauty
بركاتٌ تتابعتْ في ذرى السعْ
دِ فكانتْ في وجنة الدهر خالا
Blessings followed in the homes of Sa'd
And so in the cheek of time a mole was made
غشي الأفقَ من سناها ابتسامٌ
مُبْهِجٌ للورى فكان الهلالا
The horizon was covered by its teeth's smile
Exhilarating the people so a crescent was made
جاءَ مستتبعاً لآثارِ مُزْنٍ
قد أعدَّتْ لكلِّ حسنٍ مثالا
It came following the traces of Muzain
That had set an example for every beauty
يومَ عيدٍ وحكم فصل جديد
يُوسع الروضَ جِدَّةً واقتبالا
A day of celebration and the rule of a new season
Expanding the meadow, renewing and welcoming
ظلّ فيه النسيمُ يزدادُ لُطْفاً
كلّما ازدادَ صِحَّة واعتلالا
The breeze remained, growing gentler
As health and affliction increased
فكأنَّ الرياضَ وشيٌ بديعٌ
ينعمُ الطَرْفُ في مداهُ المجالا
It was as if the gardens were a wonderful adornment
The gaze delighting in its extended range
كلُّ فصْلٍ من الزمان عجيبٌ
غيرَ أنَّ الربيعَ أزكى خِلالا
Every season of time is wondrous
But spring is the choicest blend
وكذاكَ الحسامُ ماضٍ ولكنْ
قلمُ ابنِ الحُسام أمضى فَعالا
And so too the swords are sheathed but
The pen of the son of Husam is the most effectual
سيّدٌ حازَللمفاخِرِ شأْوَا
راحَ يسمُو على السِماك مَنالا
A lord who won glories and feats
Went high above the highest stars
قد حوى الفضلَ مُسْتَبدّاً بفهمٍ
لو دعاهُ يسيلُ لُطْفاً لسالا
He contained virtue, firmly grasping understanding
If it called to him, kindness would pour forth
وذرا أوجه البلاغَةِ حتى
أوْ شَكَتْ أن تْكونَ سِحْراً حلالا
He scattered aspects of rhetoric until
it almost became permitted magic
مِنْحٌ جمةٌ وأضواءٌ فضْلٍ
سيَّرتها بنو العُلى أمثالا
Favors, perfections, and lights of superiority
the exalted ancestors made into examples
قد تولّى أمَ القرى ينتحيها
بركابٍ سعوده تتوالى
Umm Al-Qura took on singing his praises
With a procession of Saud succeeding each other
وحباه الإِله خُلْقاً كريماً
ووقاراً وعِفَّةً وكمالا
And God granted him noble character
dignity, chastity, and perfection
هي منه تمائمٌ للمعَالي
وعقودٌ بجيدها تتلالا
From him are amulets of glories
And necklaces on his neck constantly shining
فاهنَ مولايَ بالفيوضاتِ ممّا
خصَّك الله مبدءاً ومآلا
So congratulate, my Lord, with blessings beyond
What God singled you out for, first and last
وبعيدٍ بالبشْر يتلوه عيدٌ
في مِنىً تجتلي به الآمالا
And distant good news follows good news
In Minā visions manifest wishes
واعتقلها في السانِحات قوافٍ
ليس تأولك في الثناء مقالا
And preserve them in acceptable containers, for
Your interpretation in praise is no simple matter
وابق واسلم ما أطربَ العِيسَ حادِ
فارتمتْ بالذميل تفلي الرمَالا
Remain, and peace to what made al-'Īs joyous
The sands pour forth, waving from side to side
