وذي قامة في الزهر تنْدى غضارة
بَدا فاختي اللون من عَنْبر الشَحْر
I have one who, among the flowers, stands dewy with freshness;
when it appears, the hue of al-Shihr’s ambergris fades away.
له جُمَمٌ زُغْبٌ تَفَلَّك حَوْلَها
من الزهر إِفريز كأجربة العِطْر
It has a downy body, around which there bursts
a frieze of blossoms, like perfume-filled pouches—
تكوّنَ لُطْفاً فوق زرٍّ زبرجد
تكنَّبَ بالألماس سطْراً على سطْرِ
a delicate creation above two emerald buttons,
flanked with diamonds, row upon row.
