قامت من الصبِّ على لفظ من
أَغْرَبَ في السحر تعاويذه
She rose from beside the lovesick man at the utterance of one
whose incantations are the most wondrous in magic:
لفظ رخيم الدَلً مستعذبٌ
حَشْوَ فم الآذان فالوذه
a mellow utterance of coquettish charm, savored as sweet;
its fālūdh is the filling of the ears’ mouth,
أشهى وأحلى في فم الأذن من
طَبَرْزَد الأهواز فانيذه
more delectable and sweeter in the ear’s mouth than
the rock sugar of Ahvaz—so cast it aside.
