سقى الله عهد الصالحية والصرح

وحيّا زماناً مرّ في جانب السّفْح

God watered the covenant of legitimacy and the palace

And revived an era that passed by the side of the cliff

ودوحاً نزلنا تحت فينان قضبه

ومستحرات الطير موصولة الصدح

And a grove we descended under, with long and slender trees

And the beds of birds connected ringing

مواطن إِطراب ومربع صبوةٍ

ومرتع غزلان مخضرة الكشح

Places of disturbance and a square of stillness

And a pasture of greenish gazelles

قطعنا بها ليل التمام جميعَه

على ريث ما لوث الإِزار أو اللمح

We spent the entire night there

At ease, before the wrapper or glance was stained

خلال قصور شاهقات تناظرت

مناظرها تدعو المشوق إلى الفتح

Among lofty palaces that overlooked each other

Its sights invite the longing one to conquer

أَباحت لنا سر الرياض وأصبحت

تشيد وافيها التباشير للصبح

It allowed us the secret of the meadows and became

Its truthful omens build for the morning

بريدانة أنه للريح نشوى عليلةٍ

مُخضّلة الأذيال دارَية النفح

Paradise's wind brought the scent of a delicate invalid

With trailing robes and glancing coquetry
