O, how lovely—a gleaming spike of hyacinth,
appearing before us on an upright green stalk,
كانّما من حولِ زهْرَاتِه
زَرَافِنٌ صيغت من العَنْبَرِ
as though, all around its blossoms,
were door-bolts stained with ambergris.
