1. أَحنُّ إِلى تلكَ الرُبى والمعاهد

    بذات الغضا والآنسات الخرائِد

    I yearn for those meadows and dwellings

    With the same greenness and gentle residents

  2. وأهفو وصدّاح الحمائم ساجعٌ

    يرنّ على غصن من الدَوْح مائِد

    And I sigh for the cooing of doves in the morning

    Singing on a dawh branch laid for them

  3. له شدواتٌ في العشي تلاعبتْ

    بكلِّ فؤاد طائِش الحلم واجد

    It has melodies in the evening that have toyed

    With every whimsical and fanciful heart

  4. كلانا له جسمٌ على النأي شاحبٌ

    رهينٌ وجَفْنٌ في الهوى جدُّ ساهد

    We both have bodies growing pale in separation

    Hostage and an eye in love very sleepless

  5. يذكرني أيام تُسْتَبقُ المنى

    خِفَافاً وطَرْفُ الحظّ ليس براقد

    It reminds me of days when wishes were attained

    Lightly while the glance of fortune is not slumbering

  6. على روضة ريّا ترفُّ وموْعِدٍ

    من العيش فيْنان الأراكة بارد

    In a garden spraying and trysting

    Where life is blissful with comfort and freshness

  7. ألا يا ابن نعمان الوثيق حفاظه

    ويا غائِباً لم نلْقه غيرَ شاهد

    Oh Son of Nu'man, true to his pacts

    And oh absent one we have not seen but in visions

  8. بجدّك يا ابن الأكرمين إِصاخةً

    لرنّةِ مصدوع وقصة ناشد

    By your father, oh son of the most generous, revive

    The song of the lovelorn and the tale of the passionate

  9. بعيشك هل من عطفةٍ وارْتجاعَةٍ

    إِلى عيشنا الماضي وتلك المصائد

    By your life, is there any kindness or return

    To our past life and those hunting grounds

  10. وطيبِ حَديثٍ للصفاء كأنّه

    أزاهيرُ تندى في تُؤام وفارد

    And nice talk of purity as though it were

    Flowers glistening in the early dawn and twilight

  11. ويوم على ظهر الكثيب وآخر

    على ضفّة الوادي الشهي الموارد

    And a day on the hilltop and another

    On the bank of the graceful flowing valley

  12. مطارد أنْس للصبا آه للصبا

    وحيّا الحيا آثار تلك المطارد

    Hunting the company of youth - ah, the days of youth

    And greeting life by tracking those hunts

  13. فإِن سمح الدهر الخؤون بمثلها

    فإِني لما يَسخو به غير جاحد

    If fate should allow the like of them

    Then I'll not deny what it gives liberally
