With the yearning of the wretched for cups of wine,

In the shade of a garden of lilies.

The breath of a lover through sweet lips,

The nightingale in the branches repeating

The song of the lutes as the filled cup goes round.

And in its streams the shadows

    Recall lips that kiss.

    Shaking the slender boughs.

An illness fed by generous souls.

O, the beauty of those wakeful eyes

That kill with the looks of wild gazelles.

In minds they leave from their trifling

A confusion that makes wise men folly.
