غَريرةٌ وافَت بخلخالِ

قد صار قلبي بيتَ تمثالها
وقلبها بَيْتاً لتمثالي
My heart has become a dwelling for her likeness,
and her heart a dwelling for my likeness,
حتى تعانقنا عِناقَ اللقَا
مَعْ فرط تضييق وإِقبالِ
until we embraced in reunion’s embrace,
pressing close beyond measure, ardently drawing near.
حَسِبْتَنا صرْنا لتضييقِهِ
نحنُ وَشخصانا على حالِ
You would have taken us for one idol, so tightly were we pressed—
there we were, our two figures in one and the same pose.
