أحْسِنْ بمجلسِ أنُسٍ يانعِ الزَهَرِ
أبانَ عن كلِّ معنىً فيه مُبْتَكَرِ
How lovely a convivial gathering, its blossoms fresh,
revealing every meaning within it, newly conceived.
وانظر إلى بُرْكةٍ تجلو مشاربها
عرائس الورد في مَوْشِيّة الحِبَر
And look upon a pool whose watering places are unveiled
by rose-brides in embroidered, many-hued robes.
تناظرت حولها والزهر منعكفٌ
تناظر الحُور قد قامت على سُرُرِ
They face one another around it, while blossoms bend close,
as houris gaze upon each other, standing upon couches.
وقد علا بعضها بعضاً فلاحَ لنا
خلالها فُرَجٌ تدعو إلى النَظَر
Some have risen over others, so there gleam before us
gaps between them that invite the gaze—
مثل القصور وقد أفضت مناظرها
إلى قرارة جوّ زاهر الزَهر
like palaces whose outlooks open
onto the depths of a space radiant with flowers.
أبدت تماثيل ما حاكَ الربيعُ لنا
ودبّجته يدُ الأنواء في السَحَر
They display likenesses of what spring has woven for us
and what the hand of the rain-bearing stars embroidered at dawn.
فتحتَ أحمرَ قانٍ أبيضٌ يقَقٌ
على اصفرٍ فاقع في أخضر نَضِرِ
Beneath deep crimson lies a white of dazzling purity,
above brilliant yellow set in fresh, luxuriant green.
