أَلاَّ حبَّذا شجراء جِلَّق عُرِّيَتْ

من الحَلْي أوْ لم تَعْرَ فهيَ على السَوَا

How great is a shack surrounded by trees,

Whether clothed in beauty or bare to the breeze!

فإِنْ تكتس فالحالُ لا شك بيِّنٌ

وإِنُ عُريتْ أغْرَتْ فؤادَكَ بالجوى

If clothed, its state is clearly divine,

And if bare, it kindles love in your heart.

أَلمْ تَرها تحكي نحافةَ عاشِقٍ

فتذكر بالمحبوبِ من كانَ ذا هوى

Can you not see it portray a lover's leanness?

Thus reminding all lovers of who they hold dear.
