The leaves rustled here above the towers
And swayed between softness and shaking
And consoled every heartbroken one with what
Stirs up his suffering in any turmoil
And reminded us of gardens in their arenas
Where dewdrops fall on brocade
Days when the cupbearer used to pour for us
A sun of comfort in a meadow of ivory
Crowned with rubies from its horizons
That we thought Anushirvan wore as a crown
And the streams had, above the vines, a voice
Humming, shedding the eyelids of waves
Seeking the elite of the laden cups for us
The song of joy between individuals and pairs
From everything laden that its vessel contains
The one with wrinkled cheeks held its edge, downcast
As if we were in the meadows under its shade
Children playing under swings
Until my pastures seemed by betrayal to be magic
Rustling like leaves, jasmine and lilacs
