الروضُ طَلْقٌ والنسيمُ مُهَيْنمٌ

والزهرُ باد والربيعُ مُنَمْنَمُ

The meadow is bare and the breeze gentle,

The flowers waver and spring breathes softly,

والماءُ فُضّيّ تقلقلُ تحتَه

حَصْباؤه والجوُّ صاف منجم

The water shimmers as it murmurs below,

Its pebbles, and the sky - clear, starry.

والطيرُ غرّدَ في الغصونِ مرجّعاً

أخبار من قتل الهوى المتحكم

The birds twitter in the branches returning

News of those slain by love's pitiless reign,

والدَوحُ يرفُلُ في مطارف سُنْدُسٍ

وجيوبُه بشذا الأزاهرِ تُفعَمُ

The stream meanders by beds of lilies,

Its banks redolent with fragrant blossoms.

وعلى الأراكِ حمامةٌ ورْقاءٌ قَدْ

قامت بمكتوم الغرام تُتَرجمُ

On the trellis, a turtledove - gray,

Bemoans forbidden love's sorrowful pain,

والأُنْسُ دانٍ الحدائقُ تزدهى

ولنا حديث كاللآلئ يُنْظَمُ

Companionship is ours, the gardens in bloom,

Our talk like necklaces strung, rhyme by rhyme.

واغنم لذاذةَ يومنا بغضارةٍ

من عيشه فهو الزَّمان المُنْعِمُ

So relish the joys of our day in its freshness,

For such is the blessed, beautiful time.
