1. Behold the cosmos, issuing from His Being,

    from a Being transcending all its bounds—

  2. a nonbeing that, from His Being, appears;

    from Him you are delighted through beholding Him.

  3. The Presence of Knowledge, through the Word, disclosed

    the particulars of the originated realm and its bounds.

  4. For every thing is real within His knowledge,

    manifest through the Word, concerning its intended object.

  5. Say nothing other than what I say—or else

    you are fancy’s slave, O son of its forefathers.

  6. Do not be one who worships your fancy as a delusion;

    worship God in the reality of His Being.

  7. He is the Real, while you and the cosmos, all,

    are falsehood, vanishing under His all-pervading efficacy.

  8. This is the Oneness of Being—receive it,

    and, like us, taste from Him the outpouring of His bounty.

  9. Leave the heretics in their ignorance of it,

    along with the hostility and aversion of others.

  10. They reckon straying concerning God to be right guidance,

    and imagine themselves among His visiting delegations.

  11. You have no power to guide

    the Lord’s servant, once he has strayed from the One he worships.
