حيي زمان التصابي

أيام وصل الحبيبْ

The era of affection has lived

Days of the beloved's connection

والمشي بين الروابي

في الروض ذاك الخصيبْ

And walking between the hills

In that fertile garden

وكنت أشكوه ما بي

وكان نعم المجيبْ

And I used to complain to him what was in me

And he was a good respondent

وكنت ألقى ثوابي

ذاك الجمال المهيبْ

And I used to find my reward

That majestic, revered beauty

يا سعد قل للحبائبْ

عيدوا ليالي الوصالْ

O Saad, tell the loved ones

Restore the nights of union

لا تجعلوا الصب خائب

منكم له البعد طالْ

Do not let the youth be disappointed

Distance has been long for him

شدت إليكم نجائب

دوني ومالي مجال

I tightened my passions toward you

I have no choice

والقلب بالشوق ذائب

وبالبكا والنحيب

With a melting heart of passion

Weeping and lamenting

جاءت إلينا البشائرْ

بغمز تلك العيونْ

Good tidings have come to us

With a wink from those eyes

وأفهمتنا الأشائر

من كن لأقصى يكون

And the symbols made us understand

Who aims for the farthest reaches

والعقل قد كان حائر

فيهم كثير الظنون

And the mind had been confused

With much speculation

ومنه دارت دوائر

على البعيد القريب

And from it circles turned

Upon the far and near

هذا الحمى والمنازلْ

بانت لنا من بعيدْ

This love and these halting-places

Appeared to us from afar

والركب في الحي نازل

ويومهم يوم عيد

And the caravan is encamped in the quarter

And their day is a feast day

فلا تكن أنت هازل

واصدق تنل ما تريد

So be not frivolous yourself

And believe to attain what you wish

يكفيك شر النوازل

ربي ويعطي النصيب

The evils that have afflicted you suffice

My Lord gives sustenance

صلَّى إلهي وسلَّمْ

على الشفيع المشفعْ

My God, pray and bless

The intercessor who intercedes

ومن لنا الخير علَّمْ

وكان للشر يدفع

And taught us good

And warded off evil

محمد من تكلم

بكل ما كان أنفع

Muhammad, who spoke

Of all that was most beneficial

عبد الغني منه إن لم

يفز بوصل يخيب

Abdul Ghani- if he does not

Win union he will be disappointed
