حقيقتي حضرة التجلي

ومظهر الغيب بالتخلي

My essence is the epiphany of His presence

And the appearance of the unseen in seclusion

والقاب والقوس في التداني

وزينة الله في التحلي

And the arcs and the bow in proximity

And the adornment of God in rapture

ظهرت عنه به لديه

وقلت يا صاحبي وخلي

I appeared through Him, in Him, for Him

And I said: O my companion, leave me be

وفيه أطلقت بعد حبسي

وفك قيدي به وغلي

And through Him I was set free after my imprisonment

And my shackles removed through Him, so boil

إرادة للخصوص أعطت

وقدرة أعطت التدلي

A will for exclusivity has given

And an ability to hang and dangle has given

وعن بواقي الصفات مدت

حقيقتي كامتداد ظلي

And from the rest of the attributes it has extended

My essence like the extension of my shadow

إذا بدا نوره فماذا

وإن خفيْ نوره فمن لي

If His light appears, what more

And if His light is hidden, who is there for me

إن لم يكن وابل فمنه

قنعت يوم اللقا بطل

If there is no downpour from Him

I sufficed on the day we meet with my tears

يا ويح صب عليه مضنىً

يذوب في مشهد التملي

Oh woe, pour tribulations on me

That I may melt in the spectacle of bliss

سرى بجلد إليه بال

وجلَدٍ فيه مضمحل

He traveled with skin to Him in haste

And with flayed skin in which he is disfigured

رآه في كل ما رآه

فلم يقل بعده لعلِّي

He saw Him in all that he saw

So he did not say after Him “if only”

له غرام بمن تجلى

به وما عنده تسلي

He is enamored with the One who revealed Himself

Through him and he has no consolation without Him

بشعب وادي النقا غزال

نفوره كان أصل ذلي

With a herd of gazelles in the valley of al-Naqa

Their estrangement was the source of his warmth

وغصن بان سبى فؤادي

بلين عطفٍ وحسن دل

And a branch that appeared taken captive so my heart

With the softness of affection and beauty of the young plant

يا قمراً طالعاً علينا

بوجهه المشرق المطل

O moon rising upon us

With his bright beaming face

وظلمة الكون قد تولت

والسر في ذلك التولي

And the darkness of the universe has dissipated

And the secret behind that is His manifestation

نحن تقاديره قديماً

من كل بعض وكل كل

We are His predestined decrees from the start

Some from others and some from all

وقد تجلَّى بنا فصرنا

كبائن عنه مستقل

And He has revealed Himself through us so we became

Like entities independent of Him

وهو الذي لم يزل على ما

عليه من قبل ذا التجلي

And He is the One who has always been as

He was before this epiphany

ونحن أيضا كما ذكرنا

هنا على حالنا المولِّي

And we are also as we have mentioned

But delusion is in hearts

ولكن الزيغ في قلوب

وفي عيون من المضل

And in the eyes of those gone astray

It shows you other than what you see

يريك غير الذي تراه

وأنت كالساعد الأشل

While you are like the limp arm

So exonerate the Lord from time

فنزه الرب عن زمان

وعن مكان وعن محل

And from place and from position

And from the meanings of minds absolutely

وعن معاني العقول طراً

من كل معنىً به مخل

From every meaning in which He is dissimilar

And all that the senses have grasped

وكل ما أدركت حواس

فعنه في المنزه الأجل

Is exonerated in the Most High

And be with Him pure and clean

وكن به طاهراً نظيفاً

إن قمت يا أيها المصلي

If you stand, O worshipper

And bow to Him above all others and prostrate

واركع له عن سواه واسجد

إليه في حضرة التعلي

To Him in the presence of sublime

And persist upon truthfulness in hoping

ودم على الصدق في الترجي

واشفق على قدرك الأقل

And have mercy on your inferior destiny

And do not refrain from Him and await Him

ولا تحل عنه وانتظره

غير سؤوم ولا مُمَلِّ

Without gloom or boredom

For the generosity of the Benevolent remains

فإن جود الكريم باق

بكل غيث له مُهِلِّ

With every downpour He delays

And His door is never closed

وبابه ما له انغلاق

عمن إليه أتى بذل

To whoever comes to Him in humility
