والمبسم العذب منه أبرق

كاس المنون

And his sweet smile gleamed brightly

Like a goblet of light

يا منيتي زدت في مطالي

كم ذا الجفا

How much estrangement is this!

فالجسم مني كما الخيال

كذا يكون

My body is like a mirage, so it will be

I have a passion for my gazelle

عندي غرام إلى غزالي

بلا حساب

Beyond reckoning

And my longing has become my guardian

وصار شوقي عليَّ والي

صعب يهون

Hardly easy to appease

Good fortune, oh God, triumphs over falsehood

بالسعد يا حق جد لباطل

كفى بعاد

Enough separation

For my patience in you is futile

فإن صبري عليك عاطل

يا ذا المصون

O you who are veiled

May the God of all creation bless

صلى إله الورى وسلَّمْ

على الرسول

And grant peace upon the Messenger
