1. لا تخلط الواجب بالممكنِ

    وكن بتمييزهما معتني

    Do not confuse duty with possibility,

    And be attentive in distinguishing between them.

  2. فالواجب الحق وجود وما

    سواه غير العدم الممكن

    Duty is true existence, while

    Anything else is non-existent possibility.

  3. لم يتغير واحد منهما

    عما عليه كان قدماً بني

    Neither one has changed

    From what it was eternally, my son.

  4. هذا الوجود الحق باد على

    كل التقادير بما يعتني

    This true existence prevails

    Over all determinations, carefully

  5. بعلمه قامت سماواته

    والأرض حتى كل شيء فني

    Attending, with its knowledge, to the rising

    Of its heavens and earth, even to everything refined.

  6. وهو كثير في ظهوراته

    وواحد في ذاته الأبين

    It is abundant in its manifestations

    And one in its most evident essence.

  7. مكوّن الذرات يأتي بها

    وجوده بالقلم المقتني

    Formatting the particles, its existence brings them

    Into being through the guarded pen.

  8. يركّب الأشياء منها على

    تصويرها من فاضل أو دني

    It composes things out of them,

    Depicting them as superior or inferior,

  9. حتى تراه ظاهراً بالذي

    ركَّبه ينطق بالألسن

    So that you see it manifestly

    Speaking tongues through what it has composed.

  10. تراه في صورة ناعورة

    وتارةً في شكل روض جني

    You see it in the form of a fountain,

    And at times in the shape of a verdant garden.

  11. وتارة في شكل بدر على

    غصن مليح أهيف ينثني

    And at times in the shape of a full moon

    On a graceful, bending branch.

  12. وهو الذي قد جل في نفسه

    عن صورة التصوير للأعين

    It is that which has transcended in itself

    Every depicted form from eyes,

  13. والجاهل المنكر في غيه

    وللذي يعرف عيش هني

    While the ignorant denier in his blindness,

    And the knower, live in bliss.

  14. تبارك الله الغني الذي

    يعرفه بالحسِّ عبد الغني

    Blessed is God, rich and without need,

    Whom the servant, rich through Him, knows sensually.
