وجه الحبيبِ بدا في الكائنات لنا

ونحن بالشوق في همٍّ وأكدارِ

The beloved's face appeared to us in all creation

While we in yearning are in anxiety and grief

وقد تحير من يدري بحالتنا

فالعين في جنة والقلب في نارِ

And the one who knows our state has become confused

For the eye is in paradise while the heart is in fire
