إن رمت بالمثل التقريب مقتصدا
فخذ مقالة من للحق قد وجدا
If you throw a likeness, be frugal
Then take a saying from one who found the truth
هذا مثالٌ ولم أقصد حقيقته
لديك فافهم مرادي واترك النكدا
This is an example, I didn't mean its reality
You have, so understand my purpose and leave sorrow
إذا تعارجت تحكي اعرجاً فلقد
فعلت فعلاً وذاك الفعل منك بدا
If you twist to tell a twisting, I have
Done an act, and that act began with you
وإنه عرضٌ بل صورة ظهرت
وأنت قيومها تبقى لديك مدى
It's an attribute, nay, an image appeared
You are its pillar, it remains with you a while
وما لها من وجود غير فاعلها
والفاعل الحق لا تعدل به أحدا
It has no existence but through its doer
The real doer, none can substitute for Him
قامت به الخلق طراً حيث هم عرض
وهم حجاب عليه دائماً أبدا
Creation stood by Him confused, where they are an attribute
They are a veil over Him, for ever and ever
وكلهم فعله والوهم يجعلهم
أغياره وهو فعال كما وردا
All of them are His act, and illusion makes them
Strangers to Him, and He is the Doer as was revealed
لذاك عن كل ما الفعال يفعله
فليس يُسأَلُ بل هم يُسألون غدا
Therefore, about all the Doer does
He is not asked, but they are asked tomorrow
وما الإله بجسم لا ولا عرض
فافهم كلاميَ ذا وامدد إليه يدا
And God is not a body, no, nor an attribute
So understand my speech, extend to it your hand
إن العوالم أعراض بأجمعها
كأنها في كلام الحق رجع صدى
The worlds, altogether, are attributes
As if they were an echo in the speech of Truth
والكل فان وللحق الظهور بهم
ظهور ملتبس تلقاه متحدا
All will perish, and the Truth will appear through them
An obscure appearance you receive united
قام الجميع به والكل منه له
أعراضه الفانيات الطالبات ندا
All existed through Him and all are from Him
His vanishing attributes seeking aid
وهم يقولون بالأجسام قائمة
أعراضه يوهمونا مذهبا فسدا
They say bodies standing are His attributes
Deceiving us a corrupted doctrine
وعند تعريفهم للجسم قد ذكروا
مجموع أعراض أمر عندهم قصدا
In defining body, they mentioned
A collection of attributes, an intended thing
قالوا هو الجسم أعني ما تركب من
جواهرٍ فردةٍ قولاً لأهلِ هدى
They said it's the body, meaning what is composed
Of individual substances, words for people of guidance
والجوهر الفرد فيه الإختلاف وقد
نفاه قوم وقوم أثبتوه سدى
Disagreement is in the individual substance, and a people
Denied it while a people affirmed it in vain
وقال قوم بأن الجسم ذلك ذو
طول وعرض وعمق قولُ أهلِ رَدى
And a people said the body is that which has
Length, width and depth, words of people of rejection
وكل ذلك غير الحق قد وصلوا
إليه بالعقل لا بالشرع مستندا
All that is not the Truth, they reached
Him by reason, not by scripture, relying
مقالة عند أقوام فلاسفة
قد تابعوهم بها رأياً ومعتقدا
Sayings with a people, philosophers
Who followed them in opinion and belief
وإنما قولنا هذا ومشبهه
دين النبي ابن عبد الله للسعدا
Our words and its likenesses are
The religion of the Prophet, son of Abdallah, for good fortune
ومن تأمل في الأقوال أجمعها
رأى الذي قد رأينا فاطلب المددا
Whoever contemplates all the sayings
Sees what we have seen, so seek help
