1. Human beings are subject to acts,

in all their sayings and their deeds,

  2. without any power of their own to affect whatever

    comes about thereby independently.

  3. For to say that they have produced an effect means

that they brought something out of nonbeing at once.

  4. Yet God alone is He who brings things forth—no

one but Him, in past or future.

  5. So if their souls should claim

to bring forth an act, they are astray.

  6. Of all the things ascribed to them, they bring forth

not a single act among all acts,

  7. whether outward or inward; rather, it is only

the Creator, Lord of Majesty, who brings it forth.

  8. And all of them are the creation of God, our Lord,

together with every act, one following another.
