Claude 2

  1. نحن معاني الوجود فيهِ

    ونحن عنه كنطق فيهِ

    We are the meanings of existence in Him

    And we are the articulation about Him in Him

  2. وما له عزَّ من مثيل

    وما له جلَّ من شبيه

    And He has no peer of might

    Nor a parallel of glory

  3. إذا تجلى لنا محانا

    بنوره الساطع النزيه

    When He manifests Himself to us in splendor

    With His radiant untarnished light

  4. وإن رأيناه لا نراه

    إذ نحن في رتبة تليه

    And even if we see Him we do not see Him

    For we are of a rank below Him

  5. وعلمنا ليس عند شخص

    محدِّثٍ لا ولا فقيه

    And our knowledge is not with anyone

    Neither a speaker nor a jurist

  6. ولا كبير ولا صغير

    ولا حليم ولا سفيه

    Neither big nor small

    Neither forbearing nor foolish

  7. سوى فتى صار جدَّ جدٍّ

    له وأضحى أبا أبيه

    Except a youth who became the grandfather

    Of his grandfather and became the father of his father

  8. وأصبح الجسم منه روحاً

    بسره الله يجتبيه

    And the body became spirit through Him

    By the secret of Allah choosing him

  9. وصار فرداً بحب فرد

    يجل عنه وعن ذويه

    And he became singular in the love of the One

    Transcending him and his kin

  10. ولم يدع منزلاً رفيعاً

    في الله إلا ويرتقيه

    And he left no sublime abode

    In God without ascending it

  11. وقد تعرى عن الأماني

    وكل ما كان يرتجيه

    And he stripped himself of all hopes

    And all he used to desire

  12. وذاب حتى انمحت رسوم

    له ولاح الخفيُّ فيه

    And melted until the features

    Of him disappeared and the hidden became manifest in him

  13. نصحتك اشرب كؤوس عشقي

    وخل ما كنت تتقيه

    I advise you drink the cups of my love

    And leave what you used to avoid

  14. وكن فهيماً وعَى كلامي

    وعدِّ عن كل ما تعيه

    And be wise and understand my words

    And refrain from all you know

  15. نحن الذين انتهت إلينا

    مقاصد الفاضل النبيه

    We are those unto whom

    The purposes of the eminent prophet came

  16. ونحن قوم إذا أتانا

    من لا يرى ربه نريه

    And we are a people, when one

    Who does not see his Lord comes to us, we show Him to him

  17. ونكشف الحق في المعاني

    وفي المباني التي تقيه

    And we uncover the truth in the meanings

    And in the structures that contain it

  18. نراه في كل ما كرهنا

    وكل ما نحن نشتهيه

    We see Him in all that we hated

    And all that we desire

  19. وليس بالحال يدري منا

    سوى الذي صار يقتفيه

    And none among us knows the state

    Except the one who came to follow it

  20. وزادنا ربنا علوماً

    بنور وجه له وجيه

    And our Lord increased us in knowledge

    With the light of His noble face
