When the enemy horses were unleashed, my worries were nothing but victory and nearing

For I and those who swim on the day of assembly

And what the Messenger recites from the Book

Indeed I have loved what Thaqif met

Next to the cliff yesterday of torment

They are the head of the enemy from the people of Najd

So killing them is sweeter than drink

We defeated the army, the army of Bani Qasiy

And their kneeling camels with Bani Riyab

And a Kalbite band they had abandoned

With robes that were soiled with dust

And had we met the army of Bani Kilab

Their women would stand up keening

We raced the horses among them between Busa

To the meadows they descend with plunder

With Lajab the Messenger of God among them

His battalion exposing itself to strikes
