نَحنُ قَطَعنا مِن أَبي صُفرَةٍ

قُلفتَهُ كَي يَدخلَ البَصرَه

We have cut off from Abu Safarah

His crest so he may enter Basra

لَمّا رَأى عُثمانُ غُرمولَهُ

آتى عَلى قُلفَته الشَّفرَه

When Othman saw his uppity airs

His crest met the blade's stroke
