لَنا حنتم فيها المدام كَأَنَّها
بدورٌ لَدى داجٍ مِن اللَّيلِ أَسفَعِ
We have dark earthen jars; within them the wine seems
like full moons set against the swarthy blackness of night—
بدورٌ متى تَطلُع كواملَ مُحِّقَت
بِزهرِ دراريٍّ عَلى الرّاح طُلَّعِ
full moons: whenever that night’s perfect orbs arise, they are effaced
by the brilliance of radiant stars rising upon the wine.
