مُسمِعَةٌ مِن غَيرِ أَوتَارِ

إِلا اِرتِجالاً فَوقَ أَشجارِ

A lute without strings

Improvising over trees

يَقتَرحُ الناسُ عَلَيها وَما

يَقتَرحُ الناسُ عَلى الطاري

People suggest to it but

People don't suggest to the fleeting

تُبدلُ إِن قيل لَها بَدِّلي

طائِعةً مِن غَيرِ إِصغارِ

If told, change it changes

Obedient without belittlement

كَأَنَّها في حين تَبديلها

تَأخُذُ في أَهزاج أَشعارِ

As if when it changes

It takes on the meters of poetry

عاشِقة النّوارِ ما أَقبلت

إِلا بِها آثارُ نُوّارِ

Lover of light, it didn't face

Except with traces of light
