حلقوا رَأسَه لِيَكسوه قُبحاً

خيفةً مِنهُمُ عَلَيهِ وَشُحَّا

They shaved his head to adorn him with ugliness

Out of fear of him, and with miserliness

كانَ قَبل الحلاق لَيلاً وَصُبحاً

فَمَحوا لَيلَه وَأَبقوه صُبحا

Before shaving he was night and dawn

So they erased his night and left him dawn
