يا أُمَّ عَمرو أَنجِزي المَوعُودا

وارعَي بِذَاكَ أَمَانَةً وعُهُودا

O mother of Amr fulfill the promise

And in doing so observe the trust and covenants

وَلَقَد طَرَقتُ كِلابَ أهلِكِ بالضُّحَى

حَتَّى تَرَكتُ عَقورهُنَّ رُكُودا

And indeed I have knocked on the doors of your family at dawn

Until I left behind their unresponsive doors

يَضرِبنَ بِالأَذنَابِ مِن فَرَحٍ بِنا

مُتَوَسِّدَاتٍ أَذرُعاً وَخُدُودَا

They wag their tails in joy at our coming

Resting their arms and cheeks
