لَعَمري إِنَّ الكُمَيتَ عَلى الوَجا
وَسيري خَمساً بَعدَ خَمسٍ مُكَمَّلِ
By my life, the bay horse, despite his hoofsoreness,
and though I ride him five stages after five, each course complete,
لِطَلقِ الهَوادي بِالوَجيفِ إِذا وَنى
ذَواتُ البَقايا وَالعَتيقِ الهَمَرجَلِ
is still free in the forequarters at the pounding pace, when falter
mares with strength in reserve and the noble, powerful courser.
